Julien
Julien Michel is Professor of Biomolecular Simulation at the School of Chemistry, University of Edinburgh (2022-present). He previously was a Senior lecturer (2016-2022) and a Royal Society University Research Fellow (2011-2018) at the same institution.
Prior to that Julien was a NFCR and Marie-Curie postdoctoral fellow (2007-2010) in the laboratory of Prof. William Jorgensen at Yale University (USA), where he pursued research in the field of computer-aided drug design. As a PhD student (2002-2006) Julien was funded by the pharmaceutical company Astex Therapeutics to work with Prof. Jonathan Essex at the University of Southampton (UK).
Julien previously graduated with a double master's degree in Chemical Engineering and Organic Chemistry (2002) from the Ecole Nationale Superieure de Chimie de Lille (France). As an undergraduate student, Julien carried out research projects in homogeneous catalysis at Takasago inc. (Japan) and in medicinal chemistry, protein NMR and molecular modelling at the Institut de Biologie de Lille (France).
